Isn't the phrase accurate, however, as 'British' merely compliments 'barristers'? Strictly speaking, the problem wouldn't be Scotland since, as you note, you don't have barristers. Northern Ireland, on the other hand, ...
As you know, 'British' is a problematic term there, too.

Not "British". The term is too wide, given the juris diversitas of the United Kingdom, Scottish (advocates) are not involved.
